About Clay McDermott

I am a recent graduate with expertise in writing compelling copy, administrative and communication direction, and creative communication solutions looking for a story that needs expert telling. I graduated with a dual degree from Boston University in 2021. I recieved a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in English, both magna cum laude. In 2021, I published a freelance supplement for Jay Dragon's Kickstarter hit game, Wanderhome. I wrote, laid out, and marketed the book myself, subcontracting artists to illustrate it. The book has been shouted out as an exceptional piece of content for that game. In 2020, I managed two major projects despite the breakout of the pandemic. I wrote “Framing Criminality: Bitch Planet’s Reconstruction of the Women-in-Prison Exploitation Film," a 30 page paper that was presented to the Pop Culture Association of America's annual conference. I also project managed Safe and Sound School's annual State of School Safety Survey, taking charge of every step from editing and recreating the previous year's survey to writing the report on the results. From 2017 to 2021, I was involved with WTBU Radio, the student-run radio station at Boston University. I is a lead DJ on two talk shows, produced and wrote an audio drama podcast, and from 2020 to 2021 served as the first ever training director, taking the place of what was once the Intern Director. In 2019, I worked as the summer school administrative assistant at Le Jardin Academy, a leading International Baccalaureate school on the island of Oahu. I interfaced with staff and customers, helping a new school administration successfully run the summer program.
