About Clay Spears

As a high schooler, I had planned to join my father and grandfather in our family cattle operation once I graduated college. That plan was upended once I sat down and talked with a close family friend who just so happened to be an Edward Jones Financial Advisor. Although I knew he was a financial advisor, I had no idea of everything he and his branch team did for their clients. After seeing first-hand the impact he had on his clients’ lives, I couldn’t help but envision myself in those shoes one day. To me, being an Edward Jones Financial Advisor goes far beyond the amount of assets my clients have or what we decide to invest in. What truly matters to me is partnering with my clients and their families to understand who they are, what is most important to them, and how we as a team here at Edward Jones can support them. I feel that we can say we’ve done a good job when our clients tell us they feel truly supported in achieving what is most important to them. The best part about working at Edward Jones is I am not alone; we are a 100+ year old company with over employees. We have withstood the test of time because we remain rooted in our core values: Clients’ interests come first, we believe in a quality-oriented, long-term investment philosophy, and we value working in partnership. I am proud to have graduated from the University of Kentucky with bachelor's degrees in finance and economics from the Gatton School of Business. I began my career with Edward Jones in 2021 and spent 3 years working for our home office, where I worked with branch teams across the United States on workplace retirement plan solutions such as SEP and SIMPLE IRAs, Owner-Only 401Ks, and other Qualified Plans. I grew up in Franklin, Kentucky and now reside in Elizabethtown, Kentucky with my wife, Alyssa. Whenever I can, I love to be outdoors, whether it’s hunting, fishing, golfing or helping out on the family farm. I enjoy supporting all things UK athletics, Titans Football, and Reds baseball. My wife Alyssa and I particularly enjoy supporting the local Angel Tree program, and spending time at the Hardin County Animal Refuge Center.
