About Clayton Daspit

Clayton is an award winning architect who brings over 26 years of experience to his role as Director of Design for Beck’s Atlanta office. He has worked on a wide variety of projects types in his career, including schools, convention centers, museums, churches, mixed-used/retail centers, office towers and hotels. He has focused the last 17 years serving Higher Education clients, having worked on athletics, business and law school, student center, and student housing projects on multiple campuses. His passion for working in the university campus environment is driven by the pursuit of distinctive and appropriate buildings that respect the individual mission, culture and history of each institution. He especially enjoys consensus-building and vision leadership that integrates multiple viewpoints and stakeholders, bringing to light a project narrative that speaks to all users. His projects explore a sense of place, history and campus interpretation, while seeking to create buildings with inspiring and delightful spaces that express the unique mission and personality of the programs they serve. Clayton has a passion for rigorous design that promotes the exploration and discovery of meaningful ideas. He believes this comes about not from the sole authorship of projects, but by providing experienced guidance in a collaborative process that empowers the client, the design team, and the builder to discover a project’s vision. Working in Beck’s integrated culture, he is quick to reach out to construction professionals, knowing that leveraging their wisdom and experience often results in innovative solutions that otherwise would have been overlooked. Clayton is quick to mention that the best projects come when “all participants – client, design team, and builder – feel invested in the final result.” Clayton graduated with a Master of Architecture degree from Tulane University and is a registered architect in GA, NC, VA and WA, and has been a LEED Accredited Professional since 2008. He has presented nationally at SCUP and the AIA National Convention. Clayton has served on the board of AIA Atlanta and is a regular visiting critic at the Georgia Tech School of Architecture. He is a mentor to the designers and architects he works with, and volunteers his time to promote the profession to students.
