About Clement Ren

I am an academic pediatric pulmonologist with over 30 years of experience in clinical care of children with respiratory disease and cystic fibrosis (CF), directing CF Centers, and research in pediatric pulmonology and CF. I currently serve as the CF Center Director at the Children's Hospital of Phildelphia where I care for children with CF and spend the majority of time on clinical research. In the early part of my career, I utilized infant/preschool pulmonary function testing to study CF lung disease and bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and I have led or participated in multiple cohort studies utilizing these techniques. More recently I have incorporated imaging such as MRI and electrical impedance tomography and patient reported outcomes into my research. My other area of research has been CF epidemiology. I currently am leading projects in implementing clinical use of pediatric home spirometry and analyzing the social and structural factors contributing to disparities in CF newborn screening. I have also helped advance care through service in the American Thoracic Society and the CF Foundation, where I have helped author clinical practice guidelines, led quality improvement initiatives, and served on many different committees. In addition to my academic and clinical work, I added to my skills through earning an MBA in Medical Management at the University of Rochester.
