Cliff Johnson, Trucking Specialist at ACUITY. Johnson brings over 36 years of industry experience to the position, including industrial risk control with extensive field experience in loss control, fleet management in trucking and logging operations and manufacturing settings. Cliffs specialize in promoting safe operations of motor carriers in the trucking industry. His experience also includes his owning and managing his own trucking, logging and road work construction entities. “Cliff is a tremendous asset to ACUITY’s trucking customers because of the experience and knowledge he brings to the table,” says Ben Salzmann, ACUITY President and CEO. “Hiring a dedicated Trucking Specialist also reflects ACUITY’s commitment to the transportation industry and strengthens our position as a leader in the trucking insurance sector.” Johnson’s trucking career began with hauling logs for paper mills and fuel for electrical generation power plants in northern Wisconsin in the 1980s. While still working in the industry in the 1990s, he enrolled at UW-Stout, where he earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in business risk control. After graduation, Johnson joined Great West Casualty Company in the insurer’s loss control department, where he served trucking clients throughout the continental 48 states. In 1997, Johnson became Safety, Health, and Environmental Manager for NordicTrack and, in took a similar position at AMOCO Foams. In those roles, he had oversight into OSHA, FMCSA, DOT, DNR, NFPA, ADA, and other areas of compliance for manufacturing, warehousing, and transportation operations. In June of 2001, Johnson began operating his company growing it to $2.5 million in annual revenue hauling both lumber and OS/OW heavy haul equipment. He is active in several professional trucking associations and has served on several association boards. Johnson says. “With over thirty six years in the transportation sector, as both a company driver and as owner and manager of a trucking company, I have experience that helps me understand truckers’ concerns first-hand, detailed knowledge of transportation regulations, and insurance loss control background to answer any questions that arise.”
