Background
About Cliffe Natalie
I have worked in the FE provision in Wales for the last 16 years moving from jobs within the Equine Industry such as Riding Schools and as a Free-lance Instructor. Throughout my time in the FE provision, I have worked as an Instructor, Yard Manager, Lecturer, Course Coordinator and more recently a Curriculum Lead. My role is varied encompassing teaching, coaching, mentoring and liaising with college stakeholders. Coaching and mentoring is an area that I offer alongside my role, to support students/ staff through the PGCE qualification and to develop their own practice The Coaching that I received as part of the qualification, provided me with amazing opportunities to reflect and re-focus. This had a huge impact on my practice, so to be able to offer that same opportunity to others is highly rewarding. The focus of the Curriculum Lead role this year has been Teaching and Learning. Encouraging teaching staff to develop and refresh their practice to promote meaningful learning in their sessions. The introduction of Supported Experiments and 'Teaching Takeaways' have been real highlights in my practice. In addition to my FT job as a lecturer, I work for City and Guilds as a Scrutineer, Examiner and Moderator for Equine studies. This role has developed my understanding and skills as well as exposed me to another area within the Education sector. Away from work, I am immersed in the Equine industry. My volunteer role as the District Commissioner of a Pony Club that has 77 members ranging from the ages of 3 to 25 years old. The branch has a committee of ten volunteers that work collaboratively to run training and events for the members. This is a highly rewarding role which challenges and pushes me out of my comfort zone enabling me to continuously develop my skills, knowledge and experience. Further volunteer work consists of being an Executive Secretary for a regional Scout group. This role further expands my skills and increases my awareness of the wider community.
