About Clint Seinen

I've recently joined the Processor Development Software Team (PDSW) at D-Wave. As a Staff Software Developer, supporting both annealing and gate model development, I write and maintain the code used to perform the low-level operations of D-Wave's Quantum Processing Units (QPUs). Prior to this, I worked extensively in classical High Performance Computing (HPC)- specifically, I have nearly 8 years in climate modelling for the Canadian government. During this time I contributed both as a scientst and a software engineer, coordinating and executing improvements to the Canadian Earth System Model (CanESM) and its surrounding HPC infrastructure. This included work on config and sequencing systems, build systems and general Linux HPC infrastructure. Alongside my scientific computing work, I’ve also developed extensive hands-on experience with ML/AI techniques and tools. My projects have included a GRU/LSTM-based Twitter bot, a PyTorch reinforcement learning agent for BattleSnake, and an LSTM-based methane leak locator developed during a research fellowship at Los Alamos National Lab. That work also involved building a GPU-optimized training pipeline designed for efficient use on HPC platforms.
