Background
About Clinton Markwell
First and foremost, I am a teacher. My career to date has involved a number of roles that I have stepped into because of something I noticed whilst undertaking my 'core duty' and a desire to make a difference. As I have grown into these roles, I have developed skills and undertaken activities that I never envisaged I would. My pastoral skills, which I gained as a Head of House have proven invaluable in my current role pertaining to staff wellbeing and for me personally as a young Dad. I am passionate about how school policy and processes can impact what happens in the classroom as well as the flow on effect it can have on staff. Building a culture of excellence but also one of care is at the heart of my way of working. Like many that work in Education, I am passionate about issues that influence our sector and take the view that what we do as individuals and as schools can influence these. This pursuit of system wide change motivates me to pursue efficiencies and effectiveness within my own work environment whether it be related to academic culture and excellence or the Operations of the School. As an emerging leader, I have valued learning from expert colleagues that have honed their professional skills through years of experience. I feel confident to put ideas on the table and take a systems thinking approach when analysing challenges. My willingness to put ideas forward creates a positive environment for other staff to challenge organisational inertia and be bold in expressing their ideas and creative when devising them. In this way, I bring a unique mindset to the teams I work with that values the pursuit of solutions. I share my school’s values and check myself against them. I reflect deeply when I don’t meet them. I think my colleagues would describe my way of working as a ’tight ship’, organised, focused, passionate, playful and open-minded. I am most proud of the fact that at the end of the day, I am able to link back the work I do to the influence this has on the students at our School. If I were to lose that line of sight, then I don't think the above description of my attributes would be accurate. Feel free to reach out if you would like to connect and then you can be judge of this for yourself.
