As Chief Legal Officer, I oversee legal, risk, and compliance matters, including corporate law, commercial transactions, governance, employment law, regulatory issues, claims, intellectual property, M&A, and litigation. My responsibilities include advising and coordinating with executive leadership on significant business and legal issues, where I help balance strategic risks and corporate objectives. Additionally, I manage outside legal experts engaged in litigation and transactional matters. Prior to MegaCorp, I spent 2.5 years as General Counsel of Nolan Transportation Group (NTG), a $2B third-party logistics (3PL) provider and one of the largest freight brokers in the country. During my tenure, I led the legal department and collaborated with the C-suite, front-line employees, and all levels in between. I streamlined the legal department structure into verticals that better serve the company's needs. As a result, my team reduced contract turnaround time to less than 2 days, increased contract executions by accepting strategic risks, managed a 50%+ increase in workload with the same number of employees, and learned how to be more commercially minded. Before NTG, I spent 10 years as in-house counsel at Knight-Swift Transportation, one of the top 5 largest motor carriers, where I specialized in commercial transactions and general corporate matters.
