About Codi Mills

I am passionate about educating people and helping people protect their rights in an increasingly complicated world. With the permeation of technology and the internet into everyday life, consumers are increasingly having their information and data collected without their permission while using the internet, and I strongly believe in protecting their right to privacy and choice in the digital age. My work at Disconnect has allowed me to give consumers tools to take back their privacy and limit unauthorized data collection. I was a teen leader in the youth organization 4-H for nine years where I helped the project leader teach other members how to properly raise and exhibit their animals. It was my job to help make the information understandable to the children and be a role model as a senior member. While attending college, I became a teaching assistant for two courses so that I could gain more experience helping teach students. I worked in a writing skills course and a media and diversity course, assisting the professor with grading as well as lesson plans. I am plan on pursuing a Master’s degree in museum studies so that I can become a curator and inform people about the rich history that surrounds them. Furthermore, I care deeply about the environment and responsible use of natural resources. While attending San Jose State University, I won the Associated Students Environmental Champion Award from the university for my commitment to environmental health. I also was selected to be a Salzburg Scholar for my university meaning I worked to globalize the school and address issues that affect the entire planet including environmental concerns. I traveled to Europe to work with a collection of students and faculty to better address these issues at each of our universities in the United States and beyond. Both of these experiences help me value conservation efforts in the forest as well as the importance of teaching people how to correctly use the natural world around them.
