About Cody Cooper

Cody Cooper is a creative director, photographer, visual artist and designer based in Philadelphia, PA. His photography reveals a compelling point of view of how he sees the world around him. His journey behind the camera began in photojournalism helping him recognize his own style of composing an image. His inspirations stem from high fashion photography and contemporary art. Cody's first published image is a portrait of the late recording artist DMX, performing in 2017 at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival in New York City. The portrait shows him looking deeply into the crowd after announcing a prayer to everyone who joined to see him perform. Consequently, this moment led to DMX and his team publishing Cody's image - this being the start of his career in photography. Cody was selected for a prestigious placement to participate in The Halide Project's Philadelphia Photography Festival of 2021. Two of his images from the digital photography series "06.01.20" were selected to participate, thus landing him a solo exhibition at the Wanderlife Gallery in Philadelphia, PA. Cody designs luxury clothing underneath the title, FREETOWN, representing his liberation as an artist. His line of luxury clothing is a space for him to revolutionize his creative ideologies and narrate through design. Designing clothing and capturing images work simultaneously together for Cody as an avenue to create his desired imagery as a fashion photographer.
