Background
About Cody Davis
Cody has been involved professionally in archaeological projects throughout Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas, and Louisiana for the past 20 years. In 2003, he obtained dual bachelor’s degrees in Anthropology and Psychology from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. While obtaining his degrees, he was employed at the Center for Archaeological Studies (CAS) under the direction of Dr. Britt Bousman. Davis received his graduate degree in Anthropology from the University of Texas at Arlington in May of 2009 under the direction of Dr. M. Kathryn Brown. His graduate studies and thesis research were focused on Historic Archaeology and his thesis project involved archival research, conducting oral history interviews, and detailed analysis of historic artifacts recovered from two seasons of excavation at the Berachah Rescue Home (41TR217) in Arlington, TX. In this project, he used GIS to map the excavation units and site features as well as georeference historic orthoquads, topographic maps, and various other historic maps to reconstruct the overall site area, now covered by urban development. Today, he continues to use these skills for numerous AR Consultants projects. His interests in archaeology range from the prehistoric to historic and he has conducted a large number of studies dealing with prehistoric and historic sites throughout the region. In addition to historic artifacts, he loves analyzing lithic debitage and stone tools from prehistoric sites. He became interested in this during undergrad, while working at CAS and has continued analysis this through the years at ARC at numerous prehistoric sites. Davis has been the Senior Project Manager and Principal Investigator for the Bois d'Arc Lake project since 2008. Davis is pre-certified in TxDOT categories for archaeological surveys (TxDOT 2.10.01) and historic and archival research (TxDOT 2.11.01). Davis is also a certified FAA Part 107 sUAS (small unmanned aircraft system) remote pilot, and enjoys using modern technology to record and document archaeological sites wherever they are found.
