About Cody Davison

From an early age, I’ve been driven by curiosity and a love for learning—an enthusiasm that led me to chemistry research. During my honors undergraduate degree in chemistry, I had the opportunity to conduct research under two professors, focusing on catalyst characterization and HPLC isolation of metallofullerenes. These experiences taught me both the beauty and challenges of research. Not every experiment went as planned, but when they did, nothing compared to the joy of contributing to our collective scientific knowledge. Eager to expand my expertise, I pursued a master's in biology, where I explored advanced topics in genetics and physiology while contributing to research on microbes and fish stress physiology. Now, as an analytical/automation chemist, I’ve rekindled my two greatest passions—learning and problem-solving. Every day, I refine my skills in HPLC, automated liquid and powder handling, and even python coding for open-source automation systems. I thrive on optimizing method sets, delivering high-quality results ahead of schedule, and troubleshooting the inevitable challenges of research. Recently, I’ve also stepped into a leadership role as a supervisor, where I’m learning to guide and support my team while fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. Leading has given me a new perspective—balancing technical expertise with mentorship, communication, and problem-solving at a broader scale. It’s been a rewarding challenge, and I’m excited to continue growing as both a scientist and a leader. Above all, I’m driven by the endless opportunities to learn, contribute, and develop—not just as a chemist, but as a researcher, mentor, and lifelong learner.
