Recent Professional Development Activities 2003 - Wrote the curriculum for the Science and Technology program for Chemistry 2006 – Edited a lesson plan for the Kennedy Center on fireworks and art 1997 to present Faculty Advisory Committees for the Science and Technology Academy 2004 to present - Team Leader for the chemistry team. 2006 to present - Led AP Chemistry workshops for Prince George’s County. 2011- summer - Assisting with a statistics workshop at Howard Hughes Foundation 2011 - 2013 summer – Led workshops for new chemistry teachers at ERHS 2014 - 2015 - Developed program for Italian, Prince George’s County partnership 2015 - summer – rewrote curriculum first year chemistry Honors and Recognitions: 1996-1997: GTE Gift Fellow 1997: The Leo Shubert Memorial Award-The Chemical Society of Washington 1998: Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching RadioShack National Teacher Award 2001, 2007, 2014 Eleanor Roosevelt Science and Technology Teacher of the Year 2004 National Board Certification in Chemistry, 2014 recertification 2005 Christa McAuliffe Award (teacher of the year award for Prince George’s County) 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010: Recognized by the College Board for the highest AP Chemistry scores in the nation for African Americans 2008: Siemens AP Teacher Award 2011 National Honor Society Teacher of the Year Award 2011 Life Sciences Educator Awards sponsored by the Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation and the U.S Chamber of Commerce.(top 3 life sciences 2013 Pasco STEM Educators Award (top 2 high school STEM educators:$4500) 2014 Agnes Meyer Award (Washington Post teacher of the year award for Prince George’s County Recent Grants Written and Received - 2004:$2500 for 4 grants from Chesapeake Bay Trust Fund 2010 grant from NSTA Toyota Tapestry 2010 NEA Student Achievement Grant 2011 -$450 from Donors Choose
