About Colburn Shindell
Colburn is an experienced professional educator, school administrator, leader and adventurer dedicated to service. He is interested in teaching, educational leadership, training teachers, fundraising, community partnerships and photography. As a school administrator, he has managed budgets nearing $4 million, directed a faculty of >30 teachers, maintained an annual fund of developed community partnerships and provided leadership for more than 250 children and their families. From 2013 to 2015, Colburn and his family (children ages 8-12) undertook a two year around the world trip visiting 39 countries on six continents. Upon his return, he has completed significant coursework in Business Administration and is a project developer for a local non profit organization, Nevada Volunteers. After eleven months traveling and volunteering with his family in east and Southern Africa, Colburn is now president of Chimfunshi USA, a U.S. based fund raising arm for Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage in Zambia. He also serves in a consulting role for Underwater Africa, a marine research organization in Mozambique. When he is not traveling, Colburn teaches ESL adult literacy classes at Western Nevada College.
