Background
About Colette Keith
Colette Keith Colette Keith (Narce’ Waste Win) is the Executive Vice President of Sinte Gleska University in Mission, South Dakota. She has a Bachelors’ degree in broadcast communication from the University of North Dakota and is near completion of a Master’s in Public Health degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She has a background in radio and television broadcast communication. Outside of commercial broadcast stations, she continues to work for tribal community radio stations. She has been an instructor, guest lecturer, community advocate and liaison for 13 of the nation’s 32 distinguished Tribal College and Universities. Colette is a Lakota Indian, an enrolled tribal member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in western South Dakota. She is the mother of two daughters. Colette has a passion for post-secondary student mentorship and teaches Foundations in English and Public Speaking courses. She also coaches students, families and community members on the necessity of understanding their position as “consumer students”, in order to understand their rights, roles and responsibilities in an effort to complete their degree programs with little or no student loan debt. She is one of four 2019 Tribal Faculty Ambassadors, for the American Indian Graduate Center and Wells Fargo student financial literacy initiative. She spearheaded the 1994 Habitat for Humanity Jimmy Carter Work Project on her home reservation. Former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalyn Carter helped her and other tribal members and community volunteers build 30 homes in 5 days in the summer of 1994.
