A combined 12 years’ experience in logistics with FedEx Freight and UPS were both instructive and immensely rewarding. Although the pace was increasingly frenetic, I thrived in those environments and found ways to add value by making the work easier, improving efficiency and motivating the teams I managed to deliver on progressively higher productivity goals. I learned the business from the bottom up as an Area Supervisor with UPS managing 10-15 team members and quickly advanced to Management Trainee of 10-14 supervisors in a union environment. My following position with FedEx was at least as demanding and showcased my leadership strengths, as evidenced by: • nearly doubling productivity—from 3-1/2 bills of material per hour to 6. • improving on-time departures from 75% to 90% while dispatching trucks in sequential order to a sizable hub network. • training and managing up to 100 employees at a 204-dock transportation hub. I stepped away from logistics in 2011 but have never lost my competitive nature and drive to excel. I have a reputation for making the most of every opportunity, whether by attracting quality hires with the behavioral traits and motivation needed to do a job well or by contributing to other functional areas that are critical to keeping customers happy and the business moving forward.
