About Colin Barratt

I firmly believe in the ‘human’ part of ‘human resources’ and while I’m happy to make tough decisions, I enjoy working collaboratively and find great satisfaction in nurturing and developing talent among colleagues and within my team. In addition to my workplace mentoring, I am also a Business Mentor for my Alma Mata, Nottingham Trent University. I have a high level of personal and professional integrity and have an approach that is free of jargon to facilitate my colleagues’ understanding. I am comfortable working at Board level and on the ‘shop floor’ and have extensive experience of both. Most productive in a fast paced environment, I enjoy devising creative and practical solutions to sometimes competing commercial and workforce challenges. A Chartered Fellow of the CIPD I have a 30 year track record of success in B2B and B2C environments at SME and PLC level in companies ranging from 150 to employees with turnovers between £3-90m. I am active within my local community where I am Chair of the regional Neighbourhood Watch and founded the ‘Spirit of Sherwood’ and ‘Spirit of Carrington’ Awards to celebrate local businesses, services and individuals who have shown community spirit. In their 5th year, these have grown to include 12 award categories and over voters.
