About Colin Bell

I am a chartered architect with over 15 years experience designing a wide range of buildings. My passion for teaching began after designing new school buildings and wanting to pass on my design experience to others. I changed career and gained my GTP and QTS at Kent Medway Training and immediately walked into Head of Department roles at Rochester Academy and Harrow Prep School (Orley Farm) as Head of Art & Design Technology. After 4 successful years at Orley Farm (Harrow Prep), where I coached fencers to European Success and gained numerous Art & Design scholarships to senior schools, I decided to see what Boarding Schools offered. I took on the role of Head of Design Technology and Boys Housemaster at Elstree School, near Reading. My highlights included 10 scholarships to senior schools and gaining the award of Best UK Boarding School for 2020. I was head-hunted to establish the new Harrow School in Zhuhai China, setting up and running their new boarding house, writing and establishing policies and procedures, as well as interviewing and leading the new staff team. I also wrote and taught the new school Art, Design Technology and upper school English Schemes of Work. Due to travel restrictions, I left China for Hong Kong and am enjoying teaching Design Technology to all years at KGV School in Hong Kong.
