About Colin Charles

Colin Charles has over 30 years experience in Quantity Surveying on Building, Civil and Marine Engineering projects in the Eastern Caribbean particularly Trinidad and Barbados. He has also spent six years working and training in The United Kingdom based in London. He has extensive experience in both the Public and Private sectors specialising in providing Feasibility Budgets, and developing budgets alongside the Design Team up to Pre-Tender Stage. Additionally Mr Charles has advised on the Pre-qualification of Tenderers, the selection of appropriate methods of Procurement for Construction Projects and Standard Forms of Contract, the preparation of Request for Proposals and participating in Tender Evaluations. Mr Charles is also very experienced in Cost Management and Contractual Procedures during the Construction Stage. Mr Charles has worked on Marine, Civil and Building Projects for Commercial and Retail Space, Residential Real Estate, Jetty Construction, Land Developments, Mr Charles began his career at Hart and Leonard Ltd, an established Quantity Surveying Firm in Trinidad and Tobago, went on to complete his degree at Thames Polytechnic of the University of Greenwich in 1986 and continued training with Gleeds one of the largest Quantity Surveying firms in Europe at the time right up to acceptance to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors in 1991. At Gleeds Mr Charles mostly trained with a team preparing budgets from Feasibility right up to Pre-Tender Stage for the re- development of the Worcester Town Centre, that included Enabling, Works, Aquisitions, works of a Civil and Structural nature, Demolitions, and the preparation of Tender Documents. In 1997, alongside his colleague Derek Hamilton a Civil Engineer, Mr Charles established C&H Associates Ltd that would provide a multi-disciplined consultancy. C&H Associates celebrated 20 years in 2017 and Mr Charles became an RICS Assesor in 2016. and also assists at local Institute level in recruitment.
