About Colin Fleming

With over 14 years of experience in progressively more senior strategic roles within the Broader Public Sector and Higher Education, I am well-versed in financial management, budget administration, and business operations. My background is in the sciences, and I hold a degree in biochemistry and physical organic chemistry. ​Currently, I serve as a Senior Financial Analyst for the largest medical school in Canada. In this role, I oversee the budget administration of a 64-department Faculty, act as a trusted business advisor to the business manager community, and provide subject matter expertise for working capital management, cash flow, and operations. In addition to my work in the public sector, I have also worked with for-profit medical device companies. This experience has given me a unique perspective on the business world and has enabled me to apply my financial expertise to help startups and small to medium-sized businesses. ​Beyond my professional experience, I am a Chartered Professional Accountant and have a passion for education. I currently mentor and evaluate future CPA candidates and have a track record of helping them achieve their professional goals. ​I am an active member of the Tandem Innovation Group network, where I foster connections within the startup ecosystem, share knowledge, and create access to talent and capital. As part of this network, I collaborate with incubators, investors, and finance professionals to activate and mobilize ideas that change the world. ​My goal is to use my extensive experience in financial management and business operations to provide strategic insight for startups and small to medium-sized businesses. By leveraging my expertise and my co-founder mindset, I aim to help turn research innovations into high-growth ventures.
