About Colin Helliwell

I am a 45 year veteran of the IT industry. Living and working in Europe, the USA and Australia with senior management roles at Fujitsu, MYOB and Sybase. As Executive Chairman and software author at znadoo software I am enjoying the new challenges the industry has brought over the last few years. Saas, Cloud, Pay for Use, mobile computing and market disrupters are all terms we rarely heard 5 years ago. At znadoo software we are focussed on taking our extensive experience, world class software designs for the mobile workforce logistics sector and applying it to the new paradigm. I personally have a wide range of technical and business expertise with software for mining and allied industries having designed and implemented enterprise systems for BP Minerals, Iluka, BP oil refinery, Glencore Coal + BHP Coal. I was the owner of Applied Computing, a ‘start up’ that brought the Oracle database to Australia. The company brokered a project with CRA (now Rio Tinto) and the authors of the Surpac mine planning application to optimise the ground breaking overburden removal project from the glacial formation that is now the Argyll Diamond Mine. I have core competency in setting up and running hosting centres: At Applied Computing, owner/operator of a mining-centric hosting centre based around Digital PDP 11 and VAX computers. The largest client, Alcoa, utilised the centre exclusively to deliver technical computing and mine planning services to all of their Western Australian mine sites and administration
