I spent many years working for Davy's Wines within their Distribution warehouse based in Greenwich. Which is strange, as when I started the position was a only supposed to be a for a few weeks over the Christmas period! During my time working with Davy's I must have spent time in every role within the warehouse and office before joining the Management team. I was then (kind of out of the blue) given an opportunity to join B&M McHugh as contract co-ordinator. It was an offer that I almost turned down, but although I enjoyed many happy years at Davy's, it was the right decision to take up a new challenge. Working in the rail industry was a completely different culture than what I was used to, but one I enjoy very much. I started as the co-ordinater for the stations reactive contract. Although always challenging, we as a team regularly achieved 100% score on our first attendance and work completion. This could only be achieved by a hugely motivated team effort. When I gained more experience and understanding of the rail industry I pursued and gained the safe system of work certification which enabled me to plan railway line blockages and Possessions. I am lucky in that I work with great people who (mostly) have spent their whole working life within the rail industry. Their knowledge and help enabled me to progress to a position as railway safe system of work planner. I also attended a Possession Planning System training course at Network Rail headquarters at Milton Keynes so I could fully understand the Possession planning system. Currently I plan line blockages in the Kent, Sussex, Wessex and Anglia regions and have experience in booking possessions in the Kent, Sussex and Wessex areas.
