About Colin McCormack

ABOUT ME:* My career in technology covers much of the history of modern computing. My expertise is deep, broad and long.* I’ve worked with a diversity of organisations: financial institutions, consumer goods businesses, not-for-profits, medical research institutions, legal firms, Royal Australian Navy, Australian Taxation Office, gaming software developers, major media organisations and more.* As a problem solver and strategist I have a demonstrated ability to resolve complexity, get to the heart of an issue and identify creative solutions.* As an expert in my field I’ve presented to the Supreme Court of NSW, the Australian Parliament, conferences and have lectured at institutions.* I count amongst my friends some of the best and brightest in computing. SOME IMPACTS & ACHIEVEMENTS:* I was instrumental in bringing the internet to the medical research community in Australia in the late 1980s and early 1990s. This included opening up internet access to MedLine to the research community and public which saw significant cost savings into the future.* I was a strategic international technical advisor to the People’s Republic of China on national Linux deployment. I met personally with the PRC Minister for Informatics to advise her of strategy.* On several occasions I’ve saved organisations from being severely and irreparably harmed when called upon to solve critically urgent technical issues.* I have architected, developed and deployed many highly complex and challenging systems.
