About Colin Olson

I work to shape the early vision behind places so they will feel grounded, expressive, and lasting. Whether through master plans, landscapes, or community design, I care about the character of a place and the people who bring it to life. As Director of Planning and Landscape Architecture at Denton House Design Studio (an Areté Collective company), I help lead a team that values curiosity, innovation, and purpose. I thrive at the early edge of projects, helping clients clarify their goals and vision, then guiding our team in expressing those ideas through thoughtful, context-sensitive design and planning. My degrees and experience in landscape architecture and urban planning have shaped a systems mindset, but creativity, intuition, and the human side of design are what drive my process. I care about the story behind each project and how it carries through from concept to detail. I believe that meaningful insights and good solutions can come from anywhere and uncovering them energizes me.
