A passionate advocate for the underserved and misunderstood, I thrive in opportunities that encourage engaged problem-solving in a collaborative, creative and supportive environment. Although I believe in supporting each person as a unique individual with their own personal needs, I also believe in working to improve our systems and understanding on a macro level in order to improve experiences for those to come- 8+ years of special education instruction, administration, and program management experience. Trainer and professional resource for special education program staff- Practical experience with current teaching and classroom management models: full inclusion, strengths-based approach, positive discipline approach, behavior modification approach, and least restrictive environment- Experience providing in-home therapy for children and families in order to prevent child removal from home as well as strengthening and improving exisiting relationships- Resource and advocate for special needs students, their teachers, and their parents. Known for effective communication and mediation with students and their families, ensuring they have the support they need- Proficient with software and technology for education and administration, including specialized applications for writing IEPs, intervention programs, and Google Apps.
