About Collin Hayes

Hi! I'm Collin Hayes, a Data Analyst with a background in analyzing sales, logistics and business operations. I started out my career managing restaurants because I love food and constantly finding new ways to optimize restaurant operations, but realized I hate working 65 hour weeks and never having weekends off. I pivoted from managing restaurants to working as a sales analyst for Peet's Coffee. In this role I was able to use my customer service and communication skills to build relationships with grocery store managers to increase sales by negotiating for more displays and better placement on the shelves. A few years into this role, I won Sales Manager of the Year by analyzing sales trends and targeting opportunity stores which led to an increase of revenue of over 50% on my route. Started upskilling my knowledge base by graduating from LaunchCode's Web Development program in 2024 where I learned Java, JavaScript, SQL, MySQL, and React. My capstone project was a website that helped people research which plants would best grow in their specific location. Since then I have been diving deeper into data analytics and I'm currently working building up my portfolio with hands-on projects that tackle real challenges in specific industries (finance, retail, sports, medicine). My goal for all these projects is to clean messy data, find patterns and then to visualize it for decision-makers. Outside of work, I’m a proud dog dad to Luka, our energetic border collie who keeps me busy (we’ve had to ban the word “frisbee” from the house!). I also love fantasy football, smoking meats, and watching movies—especially the Mission Impossible series, which I rewatch before every new release.
