Background
About Collin Ohara
Dr. Collin O’Hara earned a BS in Occupational Therapy from East Carolina University before earning her MD from Wright State University-Boonshoft School of Medicine in 2005. While in medical school, her interest in medical writing led her to a summer internship at CNN Medical News in Atlanta, GA with Dr. Sanjay Gupta. After medical school, she undertook residency and fellowship training in pathology at The George Washington University Hospital in Washington DC where she wrote and published an article on Goodpasture’s syndrome in the American Journal of Surgical Pathology1. Also during her time in Washington DC, she completed elective studies in cytopathology and soft tissue pathology at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Armed Forces Institutes of Pathology (AFIP). Desiring to return home to Dallas, TX, she became an Assistant Professor of Pathology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School training residents and medical students in breast, genitourinary, and gynecologic pathology. In 2012, Dr. O’Hara moved into private practice where she focuseed on cytopathology and gynecologic pathology. She is board-certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology. In 2018, Dr O’Hara joined the faculty of the new TCU School of Medicine as a physician development coach where she coaches medical students in professional and personal development. In 2020, she transitioned from private practice pathology to full-time academic medicine as an Assistant Professor of medical education (pathology) at the UNTHSC TCOM. She now splits her time between medical student coaching and teaching. 1 O'Hara, Collin MD*; Song, Joo Young MD*; Mukhopadhyay, Sanjay M. MBBS†; Schwartz, Arnold M.
