About Collins Onyim

Flexible and organised educational professional with 14 years of teaching expertise after completing a Master's in Corporate Finance and a Bachelor's in Education. Firm believer in pastoral care as a pillar of child safeguarding in the learning ecosystem. Cognisant of the role of the inquiry cycle in teaching and learning activities. Passion in imparting accounting, financial management and other business management content to IBDP/IGCSE learners. Extensive knowledge in Internal Assessment, extended essay, CAS and Personal project components. A trained teacher for Business Management and Economics, who is also a basketball coach. I am keen on differentiated learning, fostering life-long learning, as well as maintaining a classroom where openness is valued and different opinions are respected. As a pastoral care custodian, I believe in providing an environment in which students feel safe, secure, valued and respected and confident to talk openly and sure of being listened to. I believe in mentorship, confidentiality and ethical considerations, to provide students with support, advice, friendship, reinforcement and constructive role-modelling over time to build relationships. This offers them an opportunity to be responsible role models and develop positive citizenship. A firm believer in inquiry-based learning, where my students view me as open to questions, inquiries, and discussions.
