About Colm Hughes

I am responsible for the operating and financial performance of EML's business units in Europe and leading our IT function. I represent the firm in front of the industry and our regulators. Working with our European team my aims are revenue growth, value creation and regulatory compliance. From our bases across the continent we build and run some of the most exciting Banking as a Service, payments & fintech propositions in the world. My background is in running & growing regulated financial services businesses. I have 20+ years of experience in senior leadership, executive and board positions in the financial services, fintech and wealth management sectors internationally. Before joining EML, I worked as a consultant and led fintech projects like 'FxPro Wealth', a digital premier challenger bank for the European mass affluent market. Prior to that, I helped Bank of Ireland digitise their business. The earlier part of my career was spent leading enterprise operations, technology and transformation in financial services. I am people, action, and growth oriented in that order. Along the way, I have been fortunate to live, work with and learn from some amazing people across seven countries. I believe in building purpose-driven teams. I am a committed supporter of organ transplant charities and the promotion of donor ‘opt-out’ legislation in Ireland. I am grateful to have had my life changed by extraordinary donors and their families. And finally, I enjoy competitive sailing and raising my two boys. I find the first much easier than the second.
