About Colton McCormack

I started my career as an apprentice in automotive right out of high school in 2007, there I learned all the basics from oil changes and brakes to the hard stuff like electrical and drivetrain diagnostics and was also trained in service writing, job quoting and customer service. I then took a a job as a shop foreman in 2013, leading one technician and maintaining a fleet of tow trucks in an auto recovery business. In 2015 I began my career with John Deere at an AG dealer as a field service technician, I received training through John Deere and received my Advanced Technician certification. In 2017 I moved to Texas and joined a John Deere construction dealer as a field service technician, there I received multiple Capstone certifications in multiple machine families and worked all over the DFW metroplex and the oil fields of West Texas. Also, I was a resident technician at a rock quarry where the company only owned Caterpillar machines and I gained a lot of knowledge about Caterpillar, software and parts. In 2020 I left the dealership life and now work as a field service technician for a private construction company maintaining a fleet of John Deere, Caterpillar and other types of miscellaneous machine brands. In January 2022 I started my Certified Wrench Podcast to connect with other technicians all over the world and am honored at how much support I have received with this project and am supper grateful for everyone that has helped this podcast explode.
