About Conan Oceallaigh
Lecturer, Principal Investigator and Chartered Engineer at the Atlantic Technological University and formally a Research Fellow working with the Timber Engineering Research Group at the University of Galway. Conan graduated from Civil Engineering in 2012 with a first-class honours degree and obtained his PhD from the University of Galway in 2016 while investigating the structural design and use of Irish-grown timber in the manufacture of engineered wood products. Conan is currently working on numerous national and European funded projects focused on the manufacture, implementation and structural design of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) and mass timber solutions and their use in multi-story timber and modular construction. Specialised in structural engineering analysis and design, finite element modelling, and sustainability within the built environment including circular economy principles.
