About Conan Winkelmeyer

I believe that my personal background, education, and work experience will add depth to your team. My education includes a First Nation’s minor obtained at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC). Being culturally aware of the Indigenous traditions provides me with the opportunity to connect with a wider range of clients, including community members and the elders, and support the government’s goal of having an improved relationship with the First Nations people. Finally, my completion of a psychology degree has improved my ability to communicate effectively in a group setting. I have just completed a one year internship with the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction; more specifically, within the financial department. My internship was primarily focused on managing projects and coordinating services. I was also responsible for helping with the Sponsorship Default Recovery Program to ensure individual files are accurate and the debt was collected while using excel and ICM (Integrated Case Management) for data sourcing. I created and implemented a monthly government blog called “Full Access” where employees with disabilities had the opportunity to discuss their challenges and coping strategies. The blog leads to a variety of community engagement opportunities on highly confidential and sensitive issues. I am quite passionate about evolving diversity and inclusion strategies within the workplace.
