About Conar McIsaac

I am a very passionate, hardworking individual who enjoys learning new skills and gaining experience. I work well in a team but equally as confident using my own initiative to complete tasks individually. Having completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in Scientific Technologies during my last two years of high school (2018-2020), it enabled me to learn invaluable skills and techniques I would not have learned normally. It also gave me the chance to gain valuable work experience within Glasgow Clyde College Cardonald Campus in the labs working alongside the lab technician who worked there. In 2021 I started an Modern Apprenticeship in Life Sciences with the technical team at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences. The role I take on involves me shadowing the various lab technicians learning various skills and techniques I had not seen before. Some of the skills I have learned involve basic and advanced microbiological techniques, PCR, HPLC, and GC to name a few. I also help teach students within the pharmacy and biomedical courses in practical lab sessions providing help and technical expertise when needed. I also carry out some crucial health and safety work such as COSHH assessments, Risk assessments, and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT). This role has also enabled me to be involved with some research work I would not otherwise be able to carryout if I was working within another employer.
