About Conner McCrone

I believe that it is our job as young scientists to help future generations have access to clean water and safe crops. I studied marine science and soil science because if our soils become polluted then our waters will suffer the same fate. I aim to employ my mastery of both the earth and ocean to help combat pollution and climate change before the damage done becomes irreversible. I am currently a microbiologist and aquaculture/horticulture specialist for FOOP organic biosciences. There I manage the FOOP R&D laboratory, design experiments, care for tilipia and find innovative new ways to repurpose their waste for organic fertilizer. I also am submitting a manuscript this winter about my research on the impact of rising sea levels on salinity parameters and thermodynamics of binary ion exchange on east coast non-saline soils. My previous research includes legacy phosphorous desorption in agricultural soils, data analysis of scallop fisheries environmental impact on benthic ecosystems, determining the species of unknown anaerobic sulfur algae, and determining the effectiveness of marine protected zones on coral spawning and restoration. My research interests involve soil chemistry, water quality control, soil quality control, eutrophication and harmful algae blooms, ocean chemistry, wastewater treatment, coastal ecology, and climate change studies that focus on the impact of rising sea levels.
