About Connor Horemans

Passionate about data science and analytics, I am currently pursuing my Masters in Data Science and Analytics, after completing my Bachelor's degree in Cellular, Molecular, and Microbial Biology. I have honed my data science skills, particularly in Python, where I leverage libraries like NumPy, Pandas, and Plotly to adeptly perform data wrangling tasks and create interactive and informative data visualizations. In addition, my proficiency extends to R Studio, where I excel in statistical analysis and advanced modeling techniques. With a strong foundation in SQL, I efficiently extract and manipulate data, facilitating seamless data handling and integration of diverse data structures. This multifaceted skill set, coupled with my background in biology and research, positions me as a versatile professional ready to contribute to dynamic projects at the intersection of science and data. My academic journey has equipped me with extensive organizational, time management, and laboratory skills. Over the course of five years, I actively participated in university-level labs, securing the MITACS grant to conduct paid research for a semester. This research project delved into testing the efficacy of biocides on sulfate-reducing microbial biofilms, culminating in a coauthor position on a scientific paper showcased at the 8th International Symposium on Applied Microbiology and Molecular Biology in Oil Systems.
