About Connor Jackson

I began 2020 on the frontlines of the pandemic, picked up a shovel midyear to get away from it all and ended 2020 in the office, single handily setting up a construction ERP system. How did that happen? Well, with my extensive hospitality experience and management ability to run both back and front of the house, I was in the midst of being trained for GM until suddenly I wasn’t. Instead, I was doing takeout, covering shifts and helping where I was needed. Of course. I stayed until I had to leave. Choosing to switch industries as a personal reset, I became a labourer on a construction site. I wanted to build my own house one day and I knew I was in the right place to learn, so I applied my usual work ethic, growth mindset and interpersonal skills to my new career. Then one day, I was literally asked to step out of the hole I was digging and help out with some data entry in the office. For just a few weeks. That was in December 2020. In the past year, I have implemented Spectrum BI, updating the company from analogue to digital. I reorganized the HR program, and became the Safety officer, with an OFA level 2. I am now responsible for accounts receivable and payable, managing the budget, bank reconciliation, sourcing and acquiring material, scheduling of staff and sub trades, client meetings and estimating for contracts. Anything that needs to be coordinated or administered goes past my desk. I am currently being mentored in project management. As you can see, I haven’t had time to learn how to build my house yet.
