About Connor Small

I am a Clinical Resident at Optimum Joy Clinical Counseling, where I provide individual and group counseling to adults and adolescents with various mental health issues. I am also a Master of Arts candidate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wheaton College, where I am learning the theories and skills of professional counseling from a Christian perspective. My core competencies include hospitality, organization, and shepherding. Before joining Optimum Joy, I worked as a Patient Services Representative at Northwestern Medicine, where I communicated with patients and guests, completed check-in/out functions, and confirmed and updated patient information. I also served as a Student Ministries Associate Pastor at Christ Community Church, where I led a ministry of 100 students, prepared and taught curriculum, recruited and trained volunteers, planned and executed special events, created an afterschool program, and provided pastoral care and counseling. These experiences have taught me how to work with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and needs, and how to support them with empathy, respect, and professionalism. My goal is to help people find healing, hope, and joy in their lives through counseling and ministry. I believe that I can bring a unique and valuable perspective to the team, as I have a passion for serving others and a strong faith in God.
