About Conor Blaney

My accounting journey began when I graduated from Dublin City University in 2023, completing an Undergraduate degree in Accounting and Finance and subsequently the Masters in Accounting. During my time in University I completed a 2-month summer internship with EY Ireland, within the Dublin office, in 2021. I was placed within the FSO Insurance department, on a large multinational PIE client. While the experience itself was overshadowed by the COVID-19 pandemic, a highlight from the program would be finishing third, with the help of my amazing intern project team, in the inaugural Sustainability Challenge. I returned to EY at the end of Summer 2023 to begin my ACA Training Contract. My academic coursework in accounting, finance, and business analytics has helped me to develop skills in analysing financial statements, understanding business processes and internal controls, and assessing financial reporting risks. I returned to the audit team of the same multinational Insurance client from my Summer Internship. The transition to the working world from college was made all the more complex yet rewarding with the introduction of IFRS 17. This provided me with great insight into the Insurance industry. Following the successful completion of my Chartered Accountants Ireland FAE exams I am eager to continuously improve and develop my technical knowledge and expertise in the Insurance sector.
