About Conor Dempsey

My double degree gave me a strong background in a multitude of biological areas. As a biochemistry student my laboratory learning concentrated on a variety of molecular techniques. I have extensive experience in isolating DNA, RNA and Proteins. I also have a great deal of experience in working with these molecules. I have performed multiple PCR experiments to amplify sections of DNA. I have also worked with restriction enzymes and performed agarose gel electrophoresis to visualize both DNA and RNA. I am experienced in isolating proteins through both ion exchange and size exclusion chromatography. I have extensive experience in SDS-PAGE and subsequent immunoblotting to identify proteins of interest. In my microbiology classes I gained a great deal of experience working with living organisms. I learned the importance of careful and consistent technique working with potentially harmful organisms in my pathogenic bacteriology lab. Furthermore, I worked extensively with antibodies in my immunology lab using them for immunoblotting, ELISA tests and immunofluorescent staining. I am primarily interested in any work focusing on cancer research, antibodies or infectious organisms.
