Acute Care Medical Surgical RN (Graduate Dec 2019; Licensed Jan 2020) with some exposure to a wide pathological brim of patients who are on their way to full recuperation for acute disorders most- underlying chronic issues, and others. Following the code of ethics and standards of practice, the patient is always first and as such requires the RN to be the patient's advocate, therapeutic cheerleader, and caregiver. As a med surg nurse, skills such as IV placement, central line management, urine catheter care, Parenteral and enteral tube care, transtracheal care, wound care, food and/or drug administration-are needed to be performed with high standards of care and safety as possible to avoid the spread of infection, worsening of disease, or increase in hospital stay and cost. I perform assessments, diagnose, plan, suggest and perform interventions, evaluate the results- within my scope of practice. Frequent interprofessional consultations with the patient's provider, other specialists, dietician, physical and/or occupational therapist, wound care professional, and others- are also often needed.
