About Constance Crowley

Dr. Constance A. Crowley is a professor of undergraduate Psychology and graduate Counseling. She has been in higher education for over fifteen years and enthusiastically guiding students’ discoveries in on ground, online, and blended formats. Dr. Crowley enjoys exploring new approaches to student engagement and retention including learning communities, team-based and problem-based learning, and creative options for assessments. Dr. Constance Crowley has an undergraduate elementary education degree from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. She did two years of doctoral work at the nationally ranked University of Iowa’s Counseling Psychology program, and earned an MSEd from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. Her master’s thesis was a comprehensive review of the literature on Native American suicide. She holds a lifetime certification as a PK12 Counselor in Missouri, and a Master Educator’s certification in Iowa. Dr. Crowley earned her PhD in psychology from Northcentral University out of Prescott, AZ in 2005. Her dissertation was entitled Children of the Covenant: A Case Study of an Authoritative Sect, and it focused on the lived experience of children and mothers in an ultra-fundamentalist sect. Dr. Crowley also holds research interests in multicultural psychology, psychology of religion, and scholarship of teaching and learning. Dr. Crowley has presented at national conferences on historical trauma, adolescent girls and trauma therapy, and pedagogy of psychology.
