I advise financial services clients on Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering (BSA/AML), digital asset, blockchain, and other issues before the federal banking agencies (FRB, FDIC, OCC, and NCUA) and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). As the FDIC's former lead Counsel for BSA/AML matters, I regularly provided senior FDIC leadership with legal advice. In the past year, my work focused on the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2020. I primarily assist banks, credit unions, and FinTechs in understanding the regulator’s position, analyzing risk, and mitigating risk. My practice includes all financial services companies subject to BSA/AML regulatory oversight including money service businesses, broker dealers, and casinos. I use my extensive experience as a former federal and state prosecutor and FDIC enforcement attorney to advise companies and individuals in local, state, and federal government investigations and enforcement matters. Admitted in Maryland only, Practice in the District of Columbia limited either consistent with Rule 49(c) of the Rules of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals or subject to the supervision of a D.C.
