Background

About Constanza Levican

My academic background includes a degree in Electrical Civil Engineering and a Master's in Engineering Sciences from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. I am the founder of Suncast, a Chilean startup that leverages Artificial Intelligence in the field of Renewable Energies. At Suncast, we provide Solar and Wind Energy Forecasting services, delivering forecasts to the electrical system regulator, and serve over MW of installed renewable capacity in Chile, working with major companies in the electricity sector such as ENGIE, EDF Renewables, and Statkraft. I was part of the founding team and currently hold the position of President of the Board at Climatech Chile, the first Latin American association dedicated to companies that contribute to the fight against Climate Change through technology. I also teach at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where I lead a course on innovation in digital technologies, guiding students as they work on interdisciplinary innovation projects. In 2021, I received the double Avonni National Innovation Award in the categories of Woman Innovator of the Year, awarded by CORFO, as well as the Energy category award for Suncast. Since then, I have been part of the Colbún Expert Panel for the Avonni Award, which selects finalists in the Energy category. I served as a member of the Advisory Committee that proposed updates to Chile's 2050 energy policy. I have represented Chilean technological innovation at international events such as ProChile’s Clean Energy Mission at Expo Dubai 2020, the IRENA Global Youth Leaders Forum, and international climate change conferences COP26 in the United Kingdom, COP28 in Egypt, and COP29 in the United Arab Emirates.
