About Cooper Blaine

I was born and raised on a family farm in Brandon, Manitoba. After high school, I ventured south of the border in pursuit of my dream to play junior hockey for the Wichita Jr. Thunder. However, it didn't take long for me to realize that my true calling was farming. While I'm grateful for the people I met, the places I visited, and the experiences I gained in hockey, sometimes a deeper love pulls you in. During those long bus rides, I often found myself daydreaming about being back on the farm. After completing just one season in Wichita and returning home for the summer, I made the decision to follow my genuine passion for Agriculture. Though it was a challenging choice and a significant change, it's one I'm still glad I made. This decision paved the way for me to partner with my best friend and father, Brent Blaine, in his 1996-founded venture, Flyer Cattle Co. Flyer Cattle Co, is a family-owned ranch specializing in both purebred and commercial Hereford cow-calf operations. We believe that strong customer relationships are founded on trust and understanding. To achieve this, we follow specific feeding practices, responsible antibiotic use, prioritize animal welfare, and maintain strict veterinary oversight. These principles are central to our mission, and we continuously seek improvement. While traditional factors such as price, quality, and food safety are essential, we also value providing consumers with new and valuable information when purchasing our products. Through open and transparent collaboration with all our supply chain partners, Flyer Cattle Co. actively seeks to better understand consumer demands and enhance confidence in beef-based proteins. In addition to farming, I hold a position at CPKC as a proficient Signals Maintainer. My background provides a comprehensive understanding of the railway, encompassing inspections, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and meticulous documentation. During my tenure at CPKC, I have amassed expertise in train control systems, ensuring the optimal functioning and maintenance of tracks and signals for the safety of both our employees and the public. Throughout my years at CPKC, I have refined my skills in S&C construction and maintenance, and deepened my knowledge of S&C products and compliance with AREMA/FRA/Transport Canada requirements.
