About Cooper Matheson

A uniquely diversified policy, political, and business minded individual, I started my first career in the kitchen as a head-chef, from there I moved into the Alberta Legislature and worked in the public service, and now I work with a leading-edge technology business.I have also worked as a communications and strategy consultant for a number of political campaigns and at all levels of government. My key strength is in finding unique solutions to difficult problems - I don’t believe in a no-win scenario. On files and projects I have taken on varied roles including communications and marketing positions, legal and legislative advisor and document architect, project manager, volunteer coordinator, event planner, and team lead; often taking on responsibilities in the areas of subject matter expertise, stakeholder relations, training, solution design, and disrupter. I pick up new skills quickly, whether finance related, technical comprehension, process (and more) and apply that knowledge with credibility.I have had the opportunity to work in a dish pit, serve drinks, build a restaurant menu from scratch, personally brief six different premiers and dozens of cabinet ministers, help write and pass seven pieces of legislation and dozens of regulations, work for a business that didn’t profit, and consult for a non-profit. Now I have the opportunity to lead a global team of account executives for a technology company that has just transitioned out of “start-up mode” into a rapidly growing business with customers and offices across the world.Outside of work, you can catch me running kilometers, spending time with friends and family, reading books, articles, or opinions, and searching for the next great cup of coffee/pint of beer/glass of wine!
