As a Financial Analyst at a member-focused credit union, I work at the intersection of strategic finance, risk management, and data-driven decision-making. My role centers on ensuring financial resilience and optimizing performance through various responsibilities supporting daily operations and long-term planning. A core part of my work involves Interest Rate and Liquidity Risk Management, where I assess changing market conditions and their impact on our balance sheet. Through stress testing and NII simulations, our team can make the proper decisions on how to mitigate these risks. I also support our detailed investment strategy, managing portfolios based on diversification, performance, and regulatory/policy compliance. In tandem, I help with borrowing strategies and bond collateral management, helping secure efficient funding while safeguarding liquidity. I play a key role in budgeting and forecasting, delivering forward-looking financial models and scenario analyses that inform executive decision-making. My involvement with ALCO preparation requires assembling and presenting insights on balance sheet positions and economic trends, ensuring leadership is equipped with clear, actionable information. Additionally, I provide ad hoc analysis and peer research to our ALCO meetings, delivering targeted insights into sector trends, call report data, and institutional performance that shape our strategic posture. I also lead deposit rate research, which helps with product pricing and balancing market competitiveness with margin management to help credit unions grow responsibly in a dynamic rate environment.
