As a CPA with over 7 years of professional experience, Corey has accumulated in-depth knowledge in accounting, mid-market investment banking, and specialty tax planning. Corey’s diverse skillset uniquely positions him to provide comprehensive advisory services to clients through his role on the Mid-Market Investment Banking team at CIBC. Corey started his professional career in 2018 with the largest Canadian-founded accounting firm, MNP LLP, where he completed his CPA articling while accounting and tax planning for small and midsize private businesses. Upon completion of his CPA articling, Corey was a tax specialist and manager at MNP LLP, where he was responsible for a variety of tax planning and reorganization engagements, including, but not limited to estate freezes, capital gain planning, tax-efficient wealth transfers, management buyouts, trust planning, share transfers and exchanges, and acquisition and divestiture engagements. Corey has in-depth experience working with clients to ensure their specific goals are met, which may include tax minimization, maximizing shareholder value, optimizing corporate structures, and reducing estate tax liabilities, among others. Following his time as a tax specialist, Corey joined MNP Corporate Finance Inc, where he acted as an advisor to a variety of clients looking to sell or acquire a business. Corey understands that selling a business can be a very emotional experience to clients, and he has gained invaluable experience holding clients’ hands through the acquisition and divestiture process as they realize on their growth or succession plans, respectively. When exiting a business, owner objectives can vary greatly and may include some, or all of the following components: Value Maximization, Legacy, Management and Employee Retention, and Core Value Alignment with the purchaser. Corey has in-depth experience helping business owners realize on these objectives as part of their growth or succession plan.
