About Corey Ellis

Corey is a passionate educator from West Niagara, Ontario. Graduating from the Teacher Education Program at Brock University for the Junior and Intermediate divisions in 2012, Corey's teachable subjects began with History and Language Arts. However, Corey then went on to complete additional course work in Special Education and Librarianship in 2013, Primary Education in 2017, Primary-Junior Mathematics in 2020, and Reading Specialist in 2024. Corey would progress to his first full time teaching assignment, teaching Grade 6 in Fort McMurray, Alberta. It was here Corey gained valuable experience and techniques, while teaching all core subjects including Math, Science, and Literacy. Corey also gained experience working with students who were new to Canada and just beginning to learn the English language. Corey excelled in this role until being evacuated during the 2016 wildfires. Since then, Corey has continued to broaden his professional horizons, by working as a private academic tutor and continuing to teach abroad in the beautiful province of British Columbia. Corey moved back to Southern Ontario in 2018. His most recent assignment is a Grade 7 and 8 Homeroom Teacher at Ray Lewis Elementary School in Hamilton, Ontario. Corey's passion for teaching was sparked by the exceptional educators who went above and beyond to inspire him as a child. He now carries that same passion into the profession to provide students with the essential skills, understandings, and values that will allow them to be successful and reflective citizens and to reach their academic goals. Corey has experience adapting curriculum to meet a wide spectrum of learning styles and ability levels and believes every student should be given the chance to be successful.
