About Corey Mello

I've worked in Special Education my entire adult career, having left college to start at SMEC as a Paraprofessional with the experience I had with special needs in my own family. Gaining experience with all age groups and a variety of developmental disabilities from early ed to adult services, I ultimately settled into an IT role to meet the growing needs of the company, thanks to a passion for technology that had been with me since childhood. Since then, I have been a Crisis Management trainer, Program Supervisor, and finally, IT Coordinator for the Collaborative, a position I take great pride in. Although my original specialization is in Networking, I have grown to appreciate and expand my skillset in Assistive Technology and Systems Management to face the needs of a changing environment. I believe that the most important thing we can do in the present tech landscape is teach users of all stripes about the importance of digital citizenship and being effective stewards of the internet. Technology is outpacing laws and regulations faster than ever, and people of all ages and usage levels need to know how to keep themselves safe and secure with a critical mind in the face of misinformation and disinformation. I am also absolutely crackerjack with a spreadsheet and photoshop.
